Skip shifting
i had to take off in 3rd for a couple of months cause my first and second gear shift fork went out and i thought the tranny was blown so i didnt mess with it, till i found out later it was a shift fork. sucks cause we have a few steep hills around here.
Yes, I remember Mr. Wizard.
Same thing happened to mine, but I fixed it right away. I didn't buy crap, I just threw a thick weld on the fork and took a grinder to it to make it work again.

All I really wanted to get from this thread was: Have you tried skip shifting? and What did you think of it when you did it? I will never own another automatic vehicle again because I want it in the gear I want when I want. Going from 1st to 3rd makes is easier on the revs since usually going one block between these certain 4 lights in town because I can never get enough into 3rd to warrant giving it much pedal and don't want to be near my shift point for that long.
Yes I have done it. No I don't do it regularly. The trucks power is distributed to the road much more smoothly, evenly and efficiently when using all the gears. If you are comfortable doing it then it won't hurt your truck dramatically as long as you aren't burning the clutch.
