Default shifting problems

hey guys I bought a truck that had a e4od trans didnt work , so I pulled it apart had a broken overun clutch ( it broke in half ) so I replaced it, didnt see anything else wrong figured someone reved it up slammed it into gear, but after I got it back together, I drove it shifts funny from 1 to 2 knda jerky but the main problem is when on the freeway if it has to down shift going up a hill it has to slow down to 55 or 60 before it does. now if I stomp on the gas it just miss's the gear or slips I dont know but it does nothing so I let of gas the when it slows to 55 or 60 it down shifts. I assume thats why it had the broken overrun clutch someone didnt let off the gas. I was thinking downshift cable but that wouldnt make it miss would it? Ive rebuilt a few chevy trans with good luck I have a rebuild kit for the e4od now or does someone have a better answer of whats wrong? its also jerky going up hills ,should I replace the solenoid pack that thing is expensive so didnt want if i didnt have too. thanks for your help

The E4OD doesn't have a downshift cable.

Just making sure you didn't spend all day looking for one. This transmission is totally computer controlled, so the computer will store codes for the tranny too. Check for codes and see if there are any for the transmission.

The same computer that stores the engine codes also stores the tranny codes, so a separate scan isn't necessary. That suggestion was all I had for you.
