Shift Selector Mismatch?
I have been having issues with my shift selector. The most obvious problem is I can't get into 1st gear. I have read some posts on the subject, and they say to calibrate it. I have looked three separate times, and can't see the pinhole to use to do so. I noticed the one mentioned in the photos is different then mine. Here are the pics. Notice on mine the wire harness plugs in at the top.

Thanks Sean. Where can I make the adjustment?
Also, I wanted to pull off the shift lever to zero out or calibrate the MLPS. I tried to just unbolt the nut, but it moved the lever. Is there a trick to removing this bolt? Or can do I just need to hold it while turning the wrench?

Well the other day when I snapped the pics, I tried removing the assembly. I got the two bolts that hold it on, but I couldn't get the lever bolt on. So I screwed everything back together. I also jostled it some. So yesterday I went on a test run to check that another project I was working on actually works. (trans flush) I tried selecting 2nd, no problem as usual. Tried 1st, and it worked! w00t !
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!
You adjust the cable to adjust the throw. Disconnect the cable from the selector arm on the tranny. Manually push the selector all the way to the rear, which is park. Then click it forward twice, this should be neutral. Make sure the shifter and indicator in the cab is in neutral. Now, will the cable pop right back on the selector without forcing it front or back? It should align perfectly, if not.....right behind the cable stop bracket there is a little u shaped clip that you will need to pry loose. Once this clip is loose (it doesn't come all the way out)...you can adjust the length of the cable. Adjust so that while shifter is in neutral and trans selector is in neutral that it pops on.....and then partially slide the u clip back in and double check shifter throw to make sure it is perfect. If it is push the clip all the way in and lock it down.
