Default Shift kits of mod for towing

On my 94 5.0 E40D, I tow 95% percent of the time I use it. Pulling a 21 ft bass boat, anywhere from a half hour to two hour trips usually. The truck seems to shift a lot more then I care for. I pulled the same boat with an explorer sport with out ever taking it out of overdrive. The truck likes to down shift at the slightest incline. Back roads it's no big deal to run with overdrive off, but seems like a lot of revs on the highway. Don't have a tach yet so not sure.

My question is, has anyone installed a shift kit for towing. Or has anyone done any other kind of mods to there E40D for towing. My dad had a 95 and said it down shifted quite a bit more then his 2000, so I'm guessing maybe this is just nature of the beast. But see a lot of these trucks on the road pulling a hell of a lot more weight than I am. Thanks.

what gears are in the truck....

OD shifts out based on load...not that the boat is heave as it isnt...but if the truck is geared with a Numerically low gear it will place more load on teh truck than a higher gear causing it to shift more....

best thing to do is also place an aftermarket trans cooler in line with the rad cooler lines.....

You're not supposed to tow in overdrive. It isn't going to stay in overdrive while towing and you're going to overheat the tranny.

I know, just was hoping for another answer. My other vehicles just didn't seem so sensitive to a load and hardly ever down shifted or lost rpms. Oh well.
