shellac in oil pickup screen
I have a 1994 ford f150 that the previous owner never changed the oil and the engine is coated with what I call shellac that eventually falls into the pickup screen on the oil pump, I have replaced the pickup screen and oil pump five times, about once a year. My question if the stuff is falling off the engine why can't I just punch a hole in the pickup screen and it won't clog it up? Or will that screw something else up? Or is there another way of cleaning the engine of the gunk and keep it from falling off into the oil pan
Or you can dump a can of Seafoam in the oil & run it a couple of day's, dump your oil and switch to Synthetic w/ 20% Synthetic oil stabilizer. Done deal! In your case, you may want to do one more batch of conventional oil for a short time, to flush out any remaining residue, prior to the Synthetic switch. Your quite the testimonial for conventional oil! But "Seafoam" & Synthetic shall set you free, brother! Amen! Can I get a witness?
