Default Setting back Odometer?

I have a 1995 F-150 4X4 with the 5.8L
Recently took it to AMMCO Transmission for some work on Tranny, after about $2000 in work. I drove it about 20 miles and I started getting smoke from dash and immediately Trans starts shifting Hard and Odometer and Speedo now don't work.
I take it back to AMMCO and they tell me that the Dash Cluster is causing the problem. They bought a Used Dash Cluster with 244K on it and my Original only had 94K, so is there a way to reset to my Original Mileage?

Any info needed please ask?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure ford can do a speedometer recalibration but it may be expensive.
other then that you can go to a wreckers and find a cluster close to your real milage.

it couldnt be that expensive. if its more then 50 bucks id be extremely pissed lol. ford had to take into account that the cluster would go out and cant expect to have someone pay an arm and a leg to recalibrate it.

You can buy another cluster for ~$60 from EBAY or if your original speedometer gauge wasn't causing the smoking, just remove the original speedometer gauge from the original cluster and put it into the new cluster.

I wondered about that myself, but they are connected. When I drove it home Dash started smoking (Electrical Burning Smell) and immediately my Speedo and Odometer went out and Tranny Started shifting hard like it was when I first took it to AMMCO Transmission.

Called Ford Dealer and they said their is no way to reset to Original Mileage, at least the Local dealer was not even willing to consider it.

I think its illegal to turn back your odometer. I could be wrong so someone please let me know if I am. That's not to say what you need to do it for is just in general. If you turned back your odometer and then tried to sell your truck with less miles on it there could be issues there so I see why the Ford dealership would not be interested in doing something like that

If you look on ebay, they sell used ones with varied miles on them, find on that is close, and if you ever have to sell it, you just mark not actual milage on the title and explain the situation
