I thought about trying another place but I had no way of knowing what is a good body shop. Good body work is becoming uncommon in the days of throw away cars. Around here it seems cars are either new or protected classics or just dented up. No one takes care of those fender benders like they used to. They just drive that way. Another cheap trick my insurance pulled was they have an estimator for the insurance company work out of the body shop. So we met him there, he gave his estimate and said this shop would fix it all up then the company sent us a check for the estimate. Now I know we have the right to have our work done anywhere but it sure makes it difficult to get the rest of the money right? They certainly imply that is all they will pay. Good trick right. I hadn't even realized it until I was thinking about picking up the car. It hit my wife hard. This is her first car and I have always done repairs. When we talked about looking other places she was worried that we wouldn't be able to afford the extra another shop might charge. Now I knew that they had to pay for all repairs, but that same thought of how do we get the money and how do we make them pay the balance was still in my mind too. I mean what if they say no the damage isn't worth that much we won't pay. This wouldn't be the first time I haven't been able to get a company to honor my rights. In reality what is my option if they refuse? Sue them right? I'm no lawyer and I don't have the time and money to fight their red tape and lawyers. They don't really have to do anything but stall until I can't wait any longer. We need a good lawyer on this sight. I bet we could get him free car repairs for life in exchange for making a few phone calls and settling a few disputes for us. Actually that is really a good idea. Anyone know a lawyer who deals in civil law. We could set up a whole section on the board for legal advise. I know we could compensate the guy somehow.

Yes, I have USAA and trust me when I say they are the best you can get with an insurance company. If you have veterans in your family get with them and apply you will NOT regret it.

I've had USAA for about 5 years now. They are a great company to work with. And they are lower than progressive and GEICO. I bundled all of my insurance together for me and my wifes car. The only downside to them is they try to sell you something else if you call. They aren't really pushy about it, but it gets kind of annoying after a while. Still would recommend them.
I also believe that they opened it up to non veterans this year sometime. I could be wrong. Oh yeah, their only bank is in Houston. lol. No other locations except online of course.

So I finally picked up the car today. The door is now lined up and closes. The power window shudders and wobbles in the track where it was factory smooth before. The cooling fan no longer runs all the time. It doesn't run when I need it either. The dummy plug for my cigar socket is missing and there is an extra door handle in my glove box. At this point I'll just fix it myself. I'll have my shop write up a repair order and take some photos and I'll try billing them. I'll write up a complaint with the BBB and my insurance company but I think the best I can hope for is to keep someone else from going to this place and maybe costing Infinity as much business as I can. Now its time to try to get my reimbursement for the rental car. On a positive note, Hertz car rental was awesome. They gave me a free upgrade and even discounted the insurance rate when I told them we may get stuck for part of the bill. They had the cars I wanted at the lowest price around and promised with a little notice they can get me special cars like mustangs or 4x4s. Usually they just say its limited to what's on hand when I show up. I rented a 2013 fusion then switched down to a Focus. Fusion is smooth and full of gadgets with good mpg and power even with the base 4 cylinder. Forget Toyota Chevy or Honda this car competes with Mercedes and BMW. The new direct injection engine on the focus kicks ***. It easily runs with our 2000 mustang gts. I drove from LA to palm springs at 90 mph and the meter read out 34+ average mpg. The little guy didn't break a sweat. Couldn't get clear long enough to get a top speed but I hit 115+ with ease. Lots of torque at start off with minimal fly by wire lag. My favorite I can still fit comfortably in the seats at 6'4" 250 lbs. Again this is the base model engine. There are 2 upgrades including the turbo. And as with the fusion ford isn't really worried about Japanese or domestic competition. They are going for global market where European quality dominates. I might have to trade my old focus up sometime in the near future.

If they have a district office (not sure how big they are) try calling them and letting them know what all happened. If not, blast em with every free media site you can get access to. lol. And switch companies ASAP!
