Default seized powersteering pump?

I believe my powersteering pump is seized and and stopping the belt causing the truck to die. Does this happen often?

Not very, but occasionally. Take the belt off and see if it's seized. If so you will need a special pulley puller to change it - you can't just undo the bolts

I pulled the belt and the pulley is seized. I need a pulley puller? What about a new or used powersteering pump? It had a bad leak just prior to this, I tried to keep it full.

You do need a pulley puller. It's a special one just for that pump. You can't take the pump off the bracket without it. You can usually borrow one from a parts store that has a Loan - A - Tool program (like Autozone, Partsource, etc)
