Default SD to MAF conversion thread #9529084

I know this topic has been beaten like a dead horse.

I have an E4OD, and most swaps and swap info involve using an A9l Stang computer on a truck. Not really simple, since you are involving alot of custom wiring.

What I have always wondered, though, is why dont many people consider using a 1994-95 MAF truck harness, computer, etc? I dont have to worry about making custom crap with that. 90% of the threads dont mention this, and I dont know why.

I also need to check the Haynes manual, but Im almost positive that the 94-95-96's have a different firing order (the HO order, I think) than the 93's(which I have). What are my options for that? I read on fordfuelinjection.com that just swapping the wires (if it goes 1-2-3 on mine, and 1-2-4 on HO, put the #4 injector wire on my #3) is bad. Do I NEED to swap cams at that point then, or just say the heck with it and swap the wires? Can I have the computer's firing order reprogrammed at a local speed shop?

I wish it were 1982 and everything had a carbureator...

You are right about that, the only prob is its getting tough to find a good uncut harness. If you can find one thats def the way to go, cheaper..is the main part. Just have to make sure you get everything when you do find one. Thats the upside to buying a kit..you get everything you need and its really not that hard to put it in. The dunne-rite.com kit doesnt require any cutting or splicing I believe, not positive on that tho.

As far as the rest of your questions...I cant answer them, I dont know enough about what your asking to even make a guess an throw ya in the wrong direction. I swapped my 302 for a 351 an did a massair.com conversion on it so thats bout all I know. It gets to be a complicated mess when you really start getting into it.

Just find a donor truck get the wiring, maf sensor, harness and ecu, there are a couple of trucks on the cent jersey craigs list, as far as the firing orders, 302 trucks use a non ho engines so the ecu will be programmed for the non ho order, also use the 94-95 maf its obd1 and probably will be less complicated to install.
