Default Rust solution help

Ok so I have a 93 with some southern mud rust around the rear wheel wells, ends of the bed and under the extended cab. So, I got to looking and had an idea. I can cut out the rust (it has eaten a big hole but is superficial not part of the support) protect it with primer, and cover the hole with a crome kit (that runs along the bottom). Where do I get a kit lime that? How expensive are they? I am mostly worried about the extended cab. I can do a whole bed later.

Id imagine as long as everything is covered up so you don't have exposed metal you'd be fine. Might wanna weld in a piece of metal anyways, but to my common sense, what you're saying makes sense
