Rough Starts to No Problem
I just bought a 1988 F150 Lariat with only 50k original miles. V8 5.0 302.
I bought this truck off an 80 year old man whos brother died in Kemp Tx. One owner super clean,,,like it just rolled off the assembly line in Kansas.
This truck sat for several years and from what the old man said he had a man replace all the fuel pumps, flush the tanks as well as replace the filter. Since then I have had several issues.
1. (A)Front tank seems to still have particles floating in it, I have added berrymans and lucas oils to the tank and keep fresh gas in it. On (A) tank the truck coughs and stalls frequently. I've been running (B)Rear tank since then and.....
2. Intermittent Rough Starts and Coughing, truck runs great most of the time accept about every 10th start it seems to struggle horribly. Most of the time I rev the engine to get through the coughing and he runs good for the rest of the day. Any thoughts on the this?
What Ive done to the truck for correction, changed plugs and wires, re-attached the distrubutor cap which was loose, changed fuel filter, added new gas to tank (B)checked for loose connection etc? Fuel injectors seem to be in good working order. Was wondering if the pressure regulator or Co2 sensor may cause these issues, possible low fuel pressure at start up?? Any direction in finding the cause is greatly appreciated.
