Default retrieving codes for KOER

Is there a way to setup something that will give an audible beep instead of trying to count the lights? I have to much trouble catching them and writing them down. I was thinking of running a permanent wiring to a switch in the cab for this.

Sounds kinda neat. Hook up a buzzer instead of the test light or voltmeter.

thats what I was thinking too. Usually by the time i get 1 set wrote down the next set has started and I miss the count. Not sure how to hook up a buzzer to it though, guess i should see what the voltage and Ohms are. The see if radio shack can help with picking out a buzzer

The sticky tells you how to retrieve codes with a voltmeter. Hook up the buzzer instead of the voltmeter.

thats what Im basing this off of. Only its going to run into the cab with an on/off switch. Mount the buzzer under the dash.

The negative hookup for the voltmeter is also the ground signal for the check engine light. My '87 doesn't come with a check engine light so I wired it in there. You can tap from that wire under the dash.
