Default Resonated tips help

First of all what do resonated tips do? Second i am running 2 1/4in. pipe into a glasspack and i want to run it to this 2 1/4in. inlet x 9 1/2in. long x 3 1/2 outlet resonated tip, will this make a difference in sound? I have heard many different things. I know what a resonater does but i don't know anything about the tips. From some people i heard it makes your exhaust have more of a rumble sound and others i heard it makes it quieter. If it makes it quieter i am not going to buy it. So please help me out.

They do nothing but restrict the exhaust coming out of the pipes. I had a set of pacesetters on my old mustang and they sounded horrible. Just run the muffs u want and nothing afterwords.
