replacing section of fuel line
I have a 1988 F150 4x4 with a small puncture in one of the fuel lines going to the rear tank (dual tanks). The puncture is only about 2 feet from where the line attaches to the rear tank. It looks like I will need to drop the tank to disconnect the fuel line and replace it. I want to replace as little line as possible, with as little headache as possible. Can someone please give me some advice on how to drop the tank and replace the line? I have already depressurized the lines. I'm no mechanic, so any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
This will be little help.....
But.....
Instead of replacing as little as possible why not replace AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE while your in there, you'll reduce the chance of another pin hole happening right next to your 'little as possible' fix.

At Advance Auto Parts they sell a Ford fuel line repair kit. As with much oddball stuff it's hard to find but it is usually near the Help! section. It's in a yellow package and says something like "plastic/nylon fuel line repair kit". If you think it can be patched with that then try it.
well why dont you just go on the website either lmctruck.com or npdlink.com im almost 100% sure they have replacement lines that way you dont have to worry about patches cause those lines are the hard plastic lines and are a pain in the a..... to get them perfect im sure the line is only $30 so and a patch kit prob 10 or 15 why try when you can do
Thank you for the input. Yes, I was planning on replacing the entire section of fuel line (at least from the filter back to the rear tank). Is the best way to disconnect the line from the rear tank to drop the tank? If so, any input on how to do that?
well depends its a bitc* with rusted bolts even though its 2 bolts its a pain now people will argue and say well just take the bed off but then you have 8 bolts to take off instead of just 2 now the quickest is just drop the tank now the less riskfull move if your afraid that you cant get the straps off but even if you snap it just buy 2 new bolts but you could try and strugle wiggling your hand around the tank to get it off without droping the tank but i would just drop the tank save the exahustion
