I've never once oiled mine, lubed it, nothing. No issues. Every now and then the whole handle will catch and stop moving, but if I let it down then pull again it's fine

yea mine would get stuck and not want to open, that was when the truck had around 95k miles on it, oiled it once and haven't had a problem yet. im just surprised at how many people have broken these things lol, i know when mine got jammed up i was yanking on it pretty hard. id still like to upgrade to the metal/chrome handles for looks.

I know why mine keeps breaking. Here is what happened.
1st. The door hinges wore out and the door started sagging. Instead of immediately repairing the hinges by replacing the bushings and the pins my drivers would pick up the door using the inside handle in order to close it. After doing this for a year or 2 they eventually weakened the metal inside the door that the entire handle assembly bolts on to. I had to weld a large plate in there to strengthen where this assembly bolts on. Its still not perfect though and because if this it takes alot more force to unlatch the door. The plastic handles just don't cut it. I fashioned a box wrench and bolted it on and it has been like that for a year. Works fine. I am looking forward to installing the proper metal handle.

Hmm. That gives me I little motivation to replace my drivers door hinge pins and bushings. It sags some but isn't bad enough for me to worry about........ until now.

The only time my the door handle broke. It was my driver's side, and that was because my the body mounts, started to go and it started shifting everything and pinching my door once I fixed the body mounts, and realign things, everything worked out great

I also just got done rebuilding my 351 windsor along with replacing my control arm bushings, my sway bar bushings, my pivot arm bushings. I replaced the headlight plastic because they were so fogged up that I could drive around with my high beams on and nobody even noticed.

I kept everything stock. I went with the straight rebuild, cleaned it all up paint that are nice and pretty.
