Wow man, I really have to hand it to you!!! That looks great!!

That is the best color combo in my opinion and it looks great!! I am going to be getting my truck painted here in the next couple of years and now this opened up my eyes WAY more!! A couple questions because now I would love to do somthing like this , what paint did you use, did you put a clearcoat on, and is there something on your trim of your windshield? AWESOME truck

The white stuff is actually the masking tape that some how became permently attached to the chrome molding, i am still trying to work it out, but its a real big pain in the *** and is not comming off at all, bottom line if u are going to park your truck outside when u paint make sure to take the masking tape off periodically so u dont end up with the same mess i have

I was debating whether i should do something like that, but i decided not to just because i know you could get a stock truck with that sort of paint combination, and i wanted mine to be a little bit diffrent

Yea i was actually really lucky because i had a parking garage within walking distance, i worked it out so that i was able to use it as long as i laid down tarp and only worked at certain hours, ie 11pm to 6am which was a pain but if i had painted it outside the rain would have defiantly got to it

but if you are going to do it, you could easily do it outside because you have to do alot of wet sanding and the few bugs that landed on my paint were easily sanded away

ok so the process is actually very simple, first you have to do the body work that you need/ want to do, which is hard but after its a peice of cake

Materials
All i used was two quarts of the rustoleum paint that you can buy in homedepot, but make sure it is oil based, and mixed it with a 3 to 2 ratio of mineral spirits. This thins the paint out so when u roll it on it is incredibly smooth, and it helps to dry alot faster. I tried one coat of black with no mineral spirits, it had an insane amount of orange peel and took forever to dry. but other than that you have to get the high density foam rollers, which are different than the ones that you would paint your walls with because they lay the paint on really smooth. In total if you do this right you only need to spend between 50 and 100 dollars for your paint job, and the people i have been talking to say that threes has lasted for years with minimal maintenance,

Wetsand entire truck with 400 grit to take off the clearcoat
Paint
wait 6 hours
Paint
Wetsand with 800
2 more coats
wetsand with 1000
2 more coats
wetsand with 1500
2 more coats

personally i think it is a great idea if your trucks paint is so so, if your truck has a decent paint job i would recomend keeping it, just because i am not 100 percent sure how durable this paint is, but the one thing i like about this paint is that if you ever get a scratch or body repair you can always go back to the store and get a spray can of your paint color, then blend it back in as if nothing had ever happend to it

i think it would defiantly be able to stand it, i mean the cars panels will not be right against the engine so there is no way they will get super hot, and the paint is supposed to be heated up to dry, when you are done painting you are supposed to leave the truck out in direct sunlight for about a month so that the paint will completely cure to the vehicle, the constant heat of the engine should have no affect on the paint
