Default removing stuck spindle

posting again with more accurate title...

I am trying to replace the ball joints on my 1994 5.0L V8 4WD. I am stuck getting the spindle off. As you can see, everything is very rusty and the spindle is stuck solidly. I can't budge it at all. Note: the 5 nuts have been removed.

after browsing around, I'm going out to try beating it with a hammer/piece o' wood for a while and maybe trying to drive a putty knife back between the spindle and dust shield. Unfortunately I don't have a BFH so wish me luck

Try heating up the spindle. Also you can get a piece of aluminum put it on the non bearing surface and pap it with a lomp hammer, wood takes alot of shock out.

Yes, aluminum will not hurt the steel, more of the shock will transfer to the spindle, and I meant to say lump hammer, as in a small heavy hammer.

success! I figured I hadn't given the BFH method a fair try, so I borrowed a sledgehammer from a friend, scrounged up a 2x4 and went to work. I managed to completely demolish the 2x4 but the spindle is removed! And I even have the other side to look forward to

I used a soft faced 3lbs dead blow on mine, no need for the wood with the soft plastic face and no recoil.
