I got a 13 psi one from Pep Boys. I sort of hate the low quality crap they sell me sometimes (like this last thermostat), but it's close to my house and there are hookers at all the other auto parts stores that bother you as you go through the parking lot...stupid nasty hookers. There are hookers near the Pep Boys lot too, but it's a huge lot and they don't go near the door.

I'll stop in at hooker zone on my way home and grab a decent thermostat.

What does a release lever do? I've seen those before, but never really knew what it was about. Is one better than the other?

It lets the pressure off the radiator before you open it. So no huge fountains of scolding hot coolant. And that's pretty funny, hooker zone. Get you GOOD PARTS, no matter what it takes.

Here's a stupid question:

If the temp sending unit was bad, how do you know that it is now overheating? Maybe the gauge is correct and normal?!?!?

The problem has been fixed since then, but it was a combination of a sticking thermostat and bad temp sensor unit. These trucks use two temp sensors, one for the ECU and one for the gauge.

My ECU sensor was still working right b/c it threw the over heating codes and sent the truck into overheat mode (higher idle...other stuff too I think, but can't remember right now).

Replace both. Life is good (enough) now.

ECT Sensor= ECU///Coolant temp. SENDER= Gauge
