Default relaced fuel pump

I replaced my fuel pump in the tank. The part I got was the complete assembly. So all went back together and try to start. At first it would not start at all, it cranks over but would not start. I turn key on and off for 10 times. Now the motor will start and run for about 40seconds and then stalls. If you let it set for about 2 hours it will start and run for 40 seconds or so and stalls. I do have 35lbs fuel pressure and gas in the tank. I would like any help at all. Thanks

1989 f150 4x4 302 auto. I did replace the fuel filter about 2000 miles ago. The filter on the frame rail. I'm not sure if there are any others. I'm going to check to see if there is crap in the return line to the tank. Sure could use more ideas.

Pressure is low at the rail, it should be closer to 45. You put a new intank so you either have a restriction in the plumbing or a problem with the frame rail pump.

If you had lost the in tank then the frame rail pump ran dry. Cavitating it willing kill it. It needs fuel for lubrication and cooling.

Also make sure you have good volts at the frame rail pump, these systems are notorious for dropping volts on the way there. Low volts would make it run slower.

check codes for starters,if you know how,not hard..........could be the filter, despite the 2000 earlier mile trip.

35psi is on the edge of good/bad pressure, vaccum leak? could be a number of other things, hard telling without running codes.
