Default Rear Diff Vent

I just replaced the rear axle seals on my '94 2WD. As suggested on this forum, I want to make sure the vent is not plugged. I assume it's the gizmo up on top of the housing. At first glance, I thought it was an electrical line. Where does this vent connect and what would be the best method to determine if it is plugged? Also, could the new gear oil be added through the vent hole? The fill plug looks like it will be a bear to get out. Thanks

The vent comes out where the block for the brake lines is on the back of the rear

It looks like a bolt with a hose, or a place for a hose, where the brake lines join coming from the flex hose, its on th driver side axle tube, with the hose off you should be able to poke a wire hanger, etc down the hole,

that is your VSS- vehicle speed sensor, runs the computer, speedo(92-96 models) and controls your ABS
