Ok Ive been starting to look around where I am and it seems that the 460 is common along with the I6 and 302s the 351s are a bit tough to come by around here so It looks like I might go with the 460.

and yes I am aware that 351 is talking about the cubic inches but bigger does not mean better. im just not fimilure with the 460s as I never heard anything about them.

the only problem i see is the transmission bolt up would it still work with my 5 speed? and can it take the beating from the bigger engine.

the bolt pattern is different my friend, you will need a new transmission too. and with a built 460 i doubt yours would hold up long if it could work.

I was under the impression that the 460 lasts a long long time because it turns slower and has big bearing surfaces, but if you build one and spin it faster it will probably not like it very much. It would be like running a diesel over speed, maybe it would take it for a while but sooner rather than later something is going to fail.

Wow, we should have a rally. Seems like every fifth vehicle around these parts is an old Ford truck, they don't rust much around here.

Pleasant Hill, that's half a tank of gas south, right? Pretty country, I used to drive a semi through there every Tuesday from Klamath Falls.
