Default Really Considering doing a 351 swap in my old truck

Some of you might know I have a 400hp street legal race car and loving it but I still miss my old truck the I6 is great but I think It would be just a bit better with the 5.9l 351W in under the hood with a few other extras. My question is should i get a loaner truck or just pay the 3-5k for a crate engine?
My truck is a 1994 and ODB1 efi 4x4 which I believe I should be alright with the trans and transfer case as the engine should bolt right up the ecu and other components might need to be switched around a bit but if I go this route Ill be getting rid of my car and spending it all on my truck. any suggestions?

You'd be best getting a parts truck. That way you have everything you need to do the swap right next to you, engine, harness and any extra pieces you may need. Sometimes I do wish for a 351 or a 460 for the after market performance.

If you do go with a 351 swap and do a crate engine get one that comes with a stand alone computer as I dont believe you have any electronics on the trans. allso there are several after mkt stand alone tbi set ups if you go with a doner engine. If emision regs will permit you might even consider a carb setup with a dist from an older application. I have never been a fan of OBD1 or EECM ford systems. sounds like a worthy project especialy if the old 6 is getting long in tooth.

I will never go carbed and No emissions here so anything goes! i'm sure they have odb2 system crate engines. of at least direct injection like what the I6 has or other engines.

My I6 only has less then 120,000 miles on it and it has full synthetic oil changes from the first change and i'm the 3rd owner of it.

5.9 is the Dodge 360. 5.8 is the Ford 351.
