Rake Me Over The Coals.
So I pulled one of the most bone-headed moves a couple days ago. I'm prepared to take full criticism. I drove to a buddy's place about 2.5 miles away.... and left my parking brake on. When I pulled up to his shop, I smelled my rear drums. They were hot to the touch, so I though "Ohh, they probably need an adjustment." I backed up the truck and got it in place to jack it up. Right when I went to put the parking brake on... Oops!
Since then, I've noticed a slight amount of brake shudder when braking at highway speed. I'm thinking the rear drums may be out-of-round? Let me know if there's something else that could be damaged by my absent mindedness. Thanks!

A real bummer about that. But I will admit it also happened to me once many years ago. I just replaced my brake shoes, they were due soon anyway, and I had no problems. Mine were so hot they were smokin'. Just try replacing the shoes.
I did that once pulling two dirtbikes and a fourwheeler and I've never had trouble towing them until I count hit 5ph uphill and I thought something was wrong with my tranny. What I came realize is that when I slept in my truck I had kicked it. Now I have a OCD everytime something doesn't seem right with the truck I pill that lever first haha

When pads are worn, there is more brake travel. Fluid level in reservoir drops to compensate for that extra travel.

I'm thinking this could be a number of things.
