Default Radiator leak

Radiator is leaking pretty good from the top passengers side front. I cant see exactly where the leak is coming from so I'm assuming I'll just have to pull it off. My question as a noob to auto maintenance is will I have to replace the whole thing or from what I read the place piece it appears to be leaking from is seperate from the radiator

If that cracked plastic piece is part of the radiator, I would just replace the radiator. There is ways to repair that crack but that one looks big and well its better to be safe than end up in the same place after an attempt to repair.

If the fins are bleeding you can risk pinching them or putting pepper in there.

That crack looks brutal and judging from the fluid being leaked (brown) you need to replace the Rad and the fluid.

I'm guessing it split because the fluid wasn't doing much.

holy crud man, i've seen mud that was less brown than that fluid,

you need to flush that thing out bad.....

i would drain the fluid, fill it with water, get a cooling system cleaner, and run that in there drain it out, then do it at least one more time.

then unhook the hoses and get the water hose and let it run through it for a few hours.

also unhook the hear hoses and run water through them for an hour or so.

then put in the new radiator.. if you dont it wont be long until something else goes bad.

I recently replaced mine. The plastic broke open a hole big enough to put my fist in it almost. I got a two row at O'reilly for $120. The plastic part is part of the radiator so you would need a new one. For the brown water though, I have that same problem. No matter how much flushing, draining, changing I do, it seems to come back in a short time. I just use some radiator additive and keep going down the road. Don't really ever have a problem except when the water pump failed, causing the radiator to blow that hole.
