Question for the real Gurus
'94 F150 4.9L basic model
Pwr steering pressure line leaking at pump. NOT leaking past threads on threaded tube nut, leaking from where metal line enters threaded tube nut (strange place for a leak). Metal line into tube nut was loose even while tube nut remained screwed down tight.
Shop manual reports where metal line enters tube nut, internally there should be a "quick connect" fitting with an interior "O" ring (ok, a logical guess would be interior "O" ring is deteriorated allowing fluid to pass, right? So this whole connection would be akin to a quick connect fitting for a pneumatic air line, right?).
Opened up and guess what? There is not an internal "O" ring but a standard hydraulic "acorn" forcing cone fitting. Weirdest thing, even with the tube nut solidly screwed down, the line entering the tube nut was still loose and leaking even though it has a forcing cone end which should be forced tight against the meeting surface. What?
Can anybody familiar with that connection briefly explain? I called Ford for the whole replacement line and they said if they had one it would be $179 but Ford stopped making it.
Suggestions on how to effect repair? Ok, Gurus, now is your chance to show us what you got. Any thoughts highly appreciated,

Thanks for reply! Ok, fair enough, "...just worn out...", no mysteries. Getting replacement part now.
FOLLOW UP QUESTION:
Any specific procedure for bleeding pwr str hydraulic system after new line is installed? My shop manual does not address.
Does it "self-bleed" like a hydraulic clutch line just by driving?
Thanks,
