I recently removing about 3-4" of pipe in front of the first cat. Truck runs great and better mpg but a little loud. I used the soup can trick to quiet it down around town. The can is on there but not closed on the front end so the exhaust is still coming out there.

Coming to point. I checked the oil just to check it last night and it was good. Today I had to drive about 40 highway miles, and parked for awhile.

When I left a few hours later I noticed an oil spot under where I had been parked. Spot was probably 4" in diameter and was maybe 1/16" in depth in spots.

I checked my oil and it was exactly the same as night before. Not a ton of people park in our lot, so Im pretty sure it was my spot.

Reason I spoke of the vexhaust was because I was wondering if the heat from where the exhaust is blowing could have heated up the old oil that has built up over time on the oil pan. Causing that pool

Also will 2009 headlamps fit the 2004 part numbers on our trucks'

Thanks for the help

Does the truck get on the highway a lot? What year and engine size is your truck?

Any time the truck is of operating temp, especially during the recent months, any Ford rust proofing (leaky rear main and resulting oil) will flow freely enough to fall off unless its covered in grime....which it likely is.

Sounds to me like you parked in someone elses mess, at least until you look under the truck to see if the pan is leaking or the rear main did its usual trick.

Mine suffers the leaky rear main/oil pan deal too. Seems like the pan bolts like to work loose with time...

Anyway, please elaborate on this soup can thing - I'm wondering what the heck I've been missing!

Got to looking today and it does look like the spot right where the exhaust is blowing is almost free of any built up oil.

In response, not sure of the exact engine I know its a 6 though, just recently had the truck given to me from my father in law to use for work.
As far as being on the highway often I try to avoid it as much as I can.
I have some road rage issues

And the soup can deal is where you use a soup can with both sides open and hose clamps to patch a spot or join the pipes back together for a short time if you have a piece missing

Side note:
After I first rigged the can on I noticed my gas mpgs was almost doubled. Today I was driving and my mpgs where cut more that half. I crawled under the and saw the can had slipped and the front end of the exhaust was wide open. I put it back on and is fine again.,

Guessing its the whole back pressure deal

Cant wait to get paid so I can fix it

TY for the responses

Sounds like you had a collapsed converter. In which case you'd gain the mileage. If its the 300 6 (only one available) then I'd watch the oil level like a hawk. Low oil/low oil pressure is what kills the 300.
