Default Emissions

Im looking to do away with my emissions pump on my 93 f-150 it has a 4.9 in it, can i just plug the holes and do away with it with no problems, i have a leak and am loosing compression this is why i want to do this while i have my engine torn apart for a new headgasket.

While the head is off pull the smog tubes from it and plug the holes with brass plugs. The other goes to the catalytic converter which I welded the hole closed. I don't know what else you could use that would hold up to the temperatures.

You also would need to leave the control solenoids hooked up or you will get codes and maybe the check engine light will be on. The computer only reads if the solenoids are working so you can cap off the vacuum lines.
