You're right scr. My daughter has the same set up in her Intrepid. The guy she bought it off off wired in the switch (simple pushbutton), she turns the key to on and hits the starter switch, and off she goes. She will be home from college this weekend and I will look and see how it is wired in and try to get some pics. I have the same problem with my '89 being a bear to turn when it gets really cold and will probably end up doing the same thing. It still requires the key to unlock the steering, start fuel pump, etc, so it's not any easier to steal.

well here's a basic idea. i am going to do it, but i still need to figure out what wires are the starter and the ignition wires i the column.http://www.yefim.com/vx/redbutton/

hope that link works. it can be done just based on the fact that ALL true race cars have starter switches.

why alot of times sterotypes are true to the majority. I am in High school and a lot of kids drive riced out hondas, and for some reason they think that it is cool to push that big red button.

I know some one who did this with a jeep cherokee and it worked the way you seem to want it

Mines push button start, but I still have to turn the key forward. The button just turns the starter over but it wont run without the key. However it can be done keyless, I had an s10 with 2 switches and a push button. One switch turned on the accessories like the radio and wipers and jazz, the other switch was somehow hooked to the ignition, and if you flipped it on it would start push button and drive with no key. Unfortunately I don't know how it was wired, but just to give you faith it can be done

let me start by saying i drive an f150. no rice in my diet. the s2000 start button says "engine start" on it. i think thats cool. the link was merely just a sorta how to. on the '04 and up f150 u can gut the cig lighter and put a push button on the bottom of the housing. then put the lighter back in. when you push the lighter to "heat it up" u actually push the start button. very stealth. and itll make it very hard for someone who doesnt know to drive your rig.

Thats how mine is wired.. you put the key in turn it then push the button.. the thing i dont like is even with out the key in you can push the button and the starter will turn over but with no fire it wont start... i wish i could figure out how to keep the sarter from being able to work with out the key.. im affraid one of the little kids will get in my truck and hold the button down turning my motor over and never starting and messing somthing up
