Dont waste your time buy a new one, I made the mistake of useing a used one and about a month later i was turning a corner and lost all steering functions cuz the box stripped out inside protect your assests and by a new one, just my opinion though, not to sure about being that same sorry

This would convince me to abort this particular donor project, but you can probably get one from an F-150 in a boneyard for $15-$20 bucks. They're pretty much a "life of the vehicle" kinda part. Was your front end under unusual duress?

Ford gearboxes are renowned for taking a dump.....they do it less than any other auto manufacturer but still.......just buy a new gearbox and be done with it...no sense in spending half the money the first time then end up doing twice the work. Like when the seal goes out.....might as well buy a new steeringbox.
