Default parking brake

well i broke my parking brake cable. Its the one that actually attaches to the foot pedal and goes through the bottom of the cab. sounds like an easy fix. my question is can i use an earlier models parking break assembly. the p.o. somehow broke the foot pedal clean off, so it was difficult getting it set. i want to replace the pedal, but there isnt too many of these trucks in the yard here. i can find the previous gen, but not any 92-96. so i was wondering if i could snag one from the other gens and throw it in there.

Gen8 and Gen9 have many parts that are interchangeable. Gen7 would be worth looking at, as a lot of the 80-96 parts are similar. Suggest to have a look at lmctruck.com catalog to verify...

Yeah, the ninth gen has a different set up for the parking brake. The tensioner is in the clockspring for the pedal itself, whereas the tensioner for the previous gens is in between the intermediate cable and equalizer. F250s are interchangeable across generations, but F150s are not. You need to hunt down a new pedal assembly.

well to update this, they were in fact correct. the other generations did not match up with the gen 9. they instead mount on the bottom of the dash board itself, not to the kickpanel like mine.. now i am off on a chase to find this gen of truck... which is extremely difficult for some reason, none of the yards i went to had anything newer than a 91 f150. most actually were from the mid 80s.

Ebay... a lot of salvage yards also maintain ebay stores and will ship you just about any part you need. A quick search turned up more than a few results. You'll pay a little more, but if it's your only option- gotta do what ya gotta do.
