Default overdrive slack

seems like there's a clunk when i let off and on the throttle. only in overdrive. it's an automatic so i have to keep it in drive until the rpms get too high. even at high speeds it still does it. i've read it could be some spring that you can access by dropping the tranny pan or just a fluid and filter change, the drive shaft splines needing lubed, or even the transfer case. i just put in a new drive shaft and universals and there's no play so i don't think it's that. i'm thinking probably a transmission issue. any thoughts?

booo! i have not checked all the mounts yet but i'll get on it as soon as i finish typing. do you wanna know what trans it is or what code the truck is giving for the problem? i have the E40d that is in my truck and i'm not sure what kind of code it is reading i don't have a code reader. is it like filter or some spring i can fix myself trans? or one of those i'm not goin anywhere near it type of auto tranny deals?
if the latter i've been toying with the idea for a while now about trying a manual swap. i have a parts truck that had the mazda 5 speed, 3.08 gears, transfer case, the whole works. i took everything apart between my dad and i, and i'm thinking i can probably get it all back in mine. there has been a whole lot of that goin on already, i've used soooo many parts from the other truck.

was it the mounts? the passenger motor mount can be hard to see clearly. It won't always throw a code...that's what makes it tricky. I'd do a search on this forum for E40D clunking. Mine kinda clunks a tad, but nothing i'm super worried about. it could be a spring, solenoid, or maybe upgrade to the B&M valve body kit.

Nope not a mount. I'm gonna get some trans oil and a filter today if they're open.
