I have no smog or egr system and my truck is running fine. What's your idle rpm? If it's hesitating at take off maybe you're idling too low?

Okay I found the culprit to my idle misfire and a 172 code (o2 lean) I looked at me o2 and it was bent.... to the point where the special socket wouldn't fit til I pounded it back. All the ceramic in the o2 was broken, I could hear it when I shook it. But I put a new Bocsh o2 in and it runs great! But I still have a code for the EGR at insufficent flow so i'm going to clean it and see where it gets me.

Also, what would a 180 degree thermostat do in Florida heat? its gotten to 97 in the past week, yet last night it was 47.... Anyways, would this help my truck run better? I also have a small hair line crack in my radiator that leaks a little bit so I'm running almost all water. I'm not an expert on the cooling system so is that really bad?

If i get a new radiator, 180 degree thermostat and run proper coolant would this help MPG's? I'm not getting bad but its not as good as it should be.

Common male problem. But yes, abnormal for an o2.

Depends if it's an active code or continuous memory code. You should always clear the KAM (kept addaptive memory/ disconnect battery for 5 mins) after a sensor replacement. Sometime fixing one thing will cure other thing. Deal w/ one thing at a time. Either way, regarding "cleaning your EGR", that's a good thing to do.

I'd call that "bad" to potentially "catastrophic".

Personally, I wouldn't go w/ a 180F, unless you've bumped your base timing a considerable amount. I run a 180F, but my base timing is set at 16BTDC. Try that w/ a leaking radiator & you'll be riding the bus for a while.

I never have figured out my lite throttle sputter while cruising as of yet. I did get my hotter coil, 180 therm, 8.2 wires and copper core plugs on. What a difference that made. I hoped it would would correct the sputters also but no luck there. I am about to take it to a dealership and have them hit a couple ***** in the park of possibilitys.

What are we not getting if its such a common problem?

I googled it and found that alot of 4.3 chevys have the same problem and the #1 fix of all failures was a worn out gear on the distributor in which it connects to the engine. Could it be possible that the same problem lies with ford. Who knows, I never checked my gear or purchased a distributor as a replacement to rule it out. Not sure if anyone else here has. Let me know? #2 was to unplug the vacumm line to the egr and the problem also went away leading to what i think would still be in the emission somewhere but I am not all about throwing a code light inorder to solve the problem with a problem. shocks me that no one else here never came up with the solution. come on yall lets figure this out together before the chevy guys do!!!
