Default OEM cat scrap value

Are our Oem cats worth anything in scrap? I replaced mine because the flanges were messed up, cat itself was ok. I know these guys get the platnium out of them. Anyone have any idea? Or should I just chuck it?

Don't you need a license to scrap cats now?

I sold my cats to www.sellyourcatsdirect.com. Pretty easy and painless process, got $120 for two cats and two aftercats off my 04 Mustang.

Well a cat price varies widely. there's not set value. GM cats always bring more than ford cats. A lot of ford cats are usually considered Pre-cats so they don't bring as much. But I always play the core buyers against each other. like well the other guyed offered me xx.xx$

Cool thanks guys! I texted a picture of the 2 cats to that sellyourcats direct that I took off of my truck and they will give me $40 each, and pay for the shipping! And to think I was about to chuck them!

I always sell mine on ebay. You have to advertise them as "for metal recovery only" and have the flanges cut off to legally ship them.

I have never understood why cats cannot be leagally reused. I work on cars that need them all the time, they usually get an aftermarket one which is only good enough for 49states and a 50 state cat can be 15x the price. I can guarantee there are more cars out there that have guttted cats polluting the environment cause they could not afford a new one but a used one would have worked just fine. and any car made after 1995 has downstream sensors that monitor the effectiveness of the cat anyway.
