Default not sure

hey Im a new ford owner (always a chevy man) I have a 1995 150 4x4 auto and it is shifting very high rpm and hard out of first gear when accelerating half to three quater. Has anyone else had this probem? could a mount cause this only in one gear or do you think it is in the computer shifting points?

I will look when I get home and post it in a few hours. I am in the proccess of receiving it from my brother. He is going fix it for me and then tack the price of the bill to fix on top. I am trying to get an idea of what it might be. I will not inhereit if it needs a tranny. thanks for the reply. there is fluid in it but I can not remember what it looked like or smelled like.

transmission fluid was low but I checked it when it was cold. Not sure how much of a difference it makes. It smelled ok and looked ok. I will check the fuses tonight.

Check the computer for codes, this thread will explain how:

If the computer isn't receiving a signal from the VSS this can happen. The transmission is computer controlled.

That exact same thing happened on my old truck when that fuse popped and the speedometer and odometer would not work... didn't people use to pop that fuse out before they would street race to get that 2nd gear slam??
