i bought a 93 f150 xlt extended cab short bed with power everything. automatic transmission manual 4wd/hubs 3.55 posi with the 302 2 days ago for 100 bucks, had 187k miles on it and the body had a good amount of dents in it but not much rust. the old man i bought it from didnt want it anymore, the transmission was slow shifting and the engine was thought to have had a blown head gasket. drove it home and stripped it of parts i needed lol. sold it to my cousin who is a mechanic for $500. amazing deals are out there my friend. anything pre 96 (in terms of f150s) are great trucks that just wont die IMO.

I'm just bigger into the aftermarket I guess. I never replace anything unless it's made for racing or higher standards.

300s what's in my truck I have now. I only have 58k on it lol sure the 302 and 351 put out a lot of power.. But they're nothing like the ole 460 xD

My first truck was a 77 f350 ranger 460 4x4 scrapped her 2 years ago with 380k

I bought a 94 F150 XL 4x2 beater rc sb for $600 in 2005. It had a some rust issues but it had the 300 and I fell in love with the engines low end power and ease of maintenance. I donated it to a BSA camp when I found my 95 in 2008 and its still running strong with 200k.
I've had 302s and they are great in cars and trucks that are used as commuters. The gas mileage is about the same as a 300 and above 3000 rpm the 302 really starts to make power. I like both engines but would go for the 300 for reliability and ease of service or the 302 if I was going to do any mods.
YMMV

The 300 by far requires the least maintenance. It will take anything you can throw at it however there isn't a whole lot out there for it as far as aftermarket parts go. Not a very modifiable engine

Never had a reason to look for one lol to be honest if and when mine goes I'm gonna pick up a 2 or 350 diesel and swap the body off of my current truck. Similar to trucknuts 250 frame and chassis under a 150 body
