Default Newbie with a bunch of questions

Ok so my brother has a 1990 f150 xlt custom I6 4x4 5 speed man .Its now having problems.
Were going to EZ Pull this sat

Power steering pump
Alternator
Parking brake lines
Any worth while suspension parts.

What are my donor year and makes?

Is there a major difference between the single and dual gas tank? (aside from one has 2 tanks the other has one)

What would be a good build for this truck? As far as making it a reliable street/trail truck?. (NO HEAVY TRAILS)

Is there a more beefer axel set up,gear ratio, transfer case,ETC ETC? Im looking for a direct fit swap (if it is really worth it i woudnt mind doing a little fit/weld but) i would rather just use junkyard parts.

I,m definetly keeping the I6 everything else is up in the air.

Our plans so far are
Body work, paint, fog lights major tune up.

He bought this for $1000,00 no major rust no major damage no oil leaks.

It does seem to stutter and want to shut off after its warm.but i seen some post im gonna check into.

What id like to get is a majority consensus on this build.

Dual tank trucks have the tank selector switch on the dash, extra lines for the extra tank, and a tee which connects the lines from both tanks to the engine. If you use a rear other than one from an F150 then you will lose the ABS because the sensor is in the rear. Gearing will depend on what size tire you will be using, but I don't know which gear ratio for which size tire. Parts interchange will depend on the part, but the junkyard will tell you which years you can get the parts from. First thing to diagnose the engine trouble will be to read the codes, which you can do yourself. Directions are in the maintenance section under "How to retrieve trouble codes, OBDI".
