Will a cluster with a tach work on the factory wiring without a tach?

As far as I know, yes. That's how it was on the pre-'96, I don't know if the OBDII 96 is different

if you have a 96 you need a 96 cluster.

92-93 interchange 94-95 interchange and 96 is non interchangeable because its obdII

you can find them in junkyards pretty common. easiest search will be for broncos, i think they all have tachs. ebay has them also.

I found one at the junk yard a while back for my 93 and snatched it up! Installed it and works great! Also IMO it is a nicer cluster then the non tach cluster.
