Default New to the board

Hello all, I've been lurking on the forum while shopping for a truck but finally made a purchase.

I got a 95 F150 extended cab short bed automatic with a 5.0L V8 and push button 4x4. It has been around the block a time or two, has 226,000 mi. on the odometer.

I think I got a good deal for a work truck that won't be my primary means of transportation, I paid $1,300.

The truck is clean on the exterior, has a canopy, doesn't leak and no signs of major leaks, or clean up jobs from a previous owner. It starts and runs well, 4x4 works, tranny shifts smooth, and interior is in really good shape. The tires are in need of some attention, the front drivers side is cupped pretty badly but the radius arm bushings had just been replaced so that is what I blame the uneven wear on.

Plans for the truck are to do a compression test, if that comes out clean then I plan to SeaFoam the engine, TransTune the tranny and then replace the fluids with full synthetic. I also plan on changing the fluid in both diff's and the transfer case. Just so I have a base line to start from. If it all works out I plan on using the truck for work around the house and trips to the mountain, so I want it to be reliable.

If that all works out well I plan to do the ignition system upgrades (cap, rotor, wires, plugs, timing advance) Sell the canopy, and build an under seat tool box to maximize storage and be prepared as possible for anything that may happen to or from the mountain.

Please feel free to make any suggestions as to what else should be done, or replaced/cleaned ( ie. MAF, PCV, EGR, or other applicable sensors) And if anyone is interested in the canopy let me know via PM.

Thanks
Rylon

taking off and cleaning the EGR on a 225k mile truck probably won't be a bad idea.......
