Default Negative Battery Cable connection

I've rebuilt my 1988 302 windsor and when I pulled the motor out I didn't take a picture of where the negative battery cable connects to down past the frame. I think it connects to the block. Does anybody have any ideas for me. I've looked through my Haynes manual and it doesnt explain. Thanks for any answer in advance.

The motor is in my 1992 Ford F150.

It doesn't matter, it's ground. Everything metal is ground. Most are on the starter bolt but anywhere is fine.

Just make sure you connect the block to the frame with a ground strap. Sometimes the motormounts don't cut it.

Yea mine goes to the starter bolt from the frame. But there's no such thing as too many grounds.

I just bought a 89 ford with EFI 6 on it. I am putting new battery terminals, and am curious as to what would be a "frame ground" on it? The negative battery terminal connected down on the engine somewhere.. I want to put a wire to the alternator bolt. The battery seems to work good, but the Electrical Gauge never really gets up there, it stays down at 8-10volts. Starts and runs, but I want to resolve this problem so I dont gotta worry about it.

The factory gauge isn't all that accurate. Anywhere on the frame is a good "frame ground".

I ended up upgrading my alternator to the 130 amp 3rd generation Ford alternator. One of the best things I've done to my truck so far. The standard alternator that came on the truck just plain and simply scared me the whole time it was on there.

Regarding the factory ground location on the 302, it's in the front of the engine block right behind the smog pump.
