No, I hate to contradict, it sounds like I'm being an a** or a know it all or something - not trying to do that.
It's just because I had one that I know this. In 1987 everything came fuel injected (which is why the books show that) EXCEPT
that you could still special order the carbureted version of the 351 4V HO. It was the last year it was still available (came with the Holley 4V from the factory) but it was not listed as an option - special order only.
By 1988 the carbureted version was no longer available, EFI only.
You can't run a carbureted truck with a factory in tank pump - they produce 30 to 45 psi minimum and the carb runs at about 6
I just bought an 87 Farm truck this past summer w/ 351 4V HO this summer specifically just to get that motor. Hence the reason I have this seemingly useless info at hand.
Maybe you can find a listing for the proper sender under 86 or 85 when it was still a more available option.

Salvage Yard Pro
Edit, I was typing while Chris1 was posting.I had to go back to 1984 to find a mechanical only. The sender is available. You have to know which tanks you have. Sorry for the wrong information. Rockauto doesn't ask EFI or carb, so I assumed..........
