You'll probably wind up with the fuel pump assembly rather than just the sending units. Rockauto is the best place to research. Pull your fuel pumps, get the part numbers off of the assemblies and cross reference them to make sure. Previous owner might have replaced tanks or had work done on them. This is one area where you need to tear down first unless you know the complete history of the truck.

The one I took apart, the sending unit looked just like the EFI one, it was just different where the pump would have mounted if it had EFI. And of course, A single tube for carbureted.
Pretty sure the fuel gauge sending unit was pretty much the same thing though.
You might be able to swap an EFI sending unit onto what you have now if you can't find a complete unit.

The complete unit is readily available. Just need to match part numbers.

Just verified........frame or engine mounted pump and a pump in each tank. Find your truck on Rockauto.com.
It tells you there that there is an external pump and a pump in each tank.

Also search "1987 f150 3 fuel pumps" you'll get a result here on this forum.
