Need help ASAP
Sorry for the long post, but i need help bad. ok i just bought my 92 f150 5.0 v8 a few weeks back. I posted about my horrible gas milage so i changed a few things and am now having a big problem. First i changed out the coolant temp sensor. I then changed out the thermostat and coolant. I got new spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor. When i changed the wires, i traced them and made a little map. I reinstalled the new ones and did it the way i took them out. The truck seemed like it wanted to stall when i turned it on, and when i went to push the gas, it really wanted to stall. So i went on the internet and found a different way to wire it, did that, the truck started then immediately stalled. So i found another map, and it didn't start. Eventually i went back to the original and it started, but still a little sluggish. So i was driving to work on the expressway and the truck started jumping while on the gas, i thought the trans was slipping and about to drop. So i pulled over, as i pulled over the engine started smoking really bad. I checked and the radiator flush kit hose cap came off and but coolant all over the engine. I got a ride to work and sent my brother to retrieve my truck. He put on a new cap, filled it and drove about 1/4 mile and truck completely died and would not restart. Later i was told it was vapor lock. So i unscrewed the gas caps and it stared, with the engine still jumping randomly but i got it home. I then read that i should take of the radiator cap to let the truck run for 30 min's to get any air out, i check after 20, still going strong, came back out after 30. Truck wont start. I cant get it restarted. What can i do to fix my truck?
just for future references, and im not trying to lecture you on how to work on vehicles because im good at working on vehicles, but im by far an expert.... when you change plug wires, change one at a time so you know for a fact that the new ones are in the same place as the old ones.... like i said though, im not trying to bash someone or anything, im just trying to give helpful tips.... like what dr bowtie said, theres a sticker on the core support that has a map of the plug wiring.... you never know, the old plug wires could have been switched around when you got the truck.... just look on the core support and find the wiring map and see if thats your problem
I learned that very lesson myself when I was younger...I still to this day only change one at a time...I remember one time my uncle called me and he couldnt get his truck running...he had changed the cap, rotor and plug wires and he pulled them all off and then wired it like a Chevy...boy did that truck not like it...it was pissed off like a Bull snorting...I had to re-wire it for him...ah the memories of our loved one...
May he rest in peace...

ehhh im 21 right now.... ive had my mess ups in the past.... like putting 80w90 gear lube in a rear end that was limited slip.... i learned that lesson real quick after the rear end started making all kinds of noises and went out
All you need to add in this case is the friction modifier. Most petro based gear lubes do not add the modifiers because they can wear the R&P quickly.

ok, the plugs are hooked up correctly now and still problems. The truck is turning over like it wants to start, but nothing. I got it to start once, it sputtered and died. Any suggestions,? Could it be the fuel pump and how can i test it?
make sure #1 is actually #1. Find TDC with the distributor cap off and mark the distributor where the rotor points. You'll have #1. Begin ur firing order there. With the vavle cover on u have a 50/50 shot of getting it right. if it doesn't run right, then switch the wires to the post directly across from the one it's currently on. just cuz the picture says it's #1 doesn't mean it is. You may have the right order, but if ur off by 1 number it either won't run, or won't run properly.
