need help asap! :/
so i have a 1992 Ford F150 4X4 XLT with the 351 Windsor. lately its been having issues. sometimes when its hot or cold, doesnt matter, it wont want to start. sometimes your turn the key on and the radio lights up and everything like that but then when you go to actually start the key, nothing. doesnt turn over, doesnt click. doesnt do nothing. it acts as if the battery isnt even connected. thats 1 thing its been doing recently. another thing itll do, is when your driving down the highway or even down the road, sometimes itll overheat, it hits almost 230 degrees on the temp gauge and when that happens, if your on the highway and your getting off at the ramp, it likes to stall and not start back up till it cools down some. ive had people tell me its the timing chain. ive had someone tell me its the fuel pump, ive had someone tell me its a bad ground. im not sure. i do know this though, the starter isnt bad. the battery is only 4 months old. and the alternator isnt bad as well.
please if someone knows whats wrong, please help me out. im in dire need. im 19 and this truck is my only transportation and i work 2 jobs.. i NEED this truck.

check the fluid level everytime you leave in the truck if it still has plenty then the problem is not in the motor it's in the ecm ( computer side ) also check that you have good connections at the starter and also the starter relay on the fender well next to the batt ...
don't think it is timing or it would not restart ( most of the time when you jump time it does not come back by it's self ) fuel pump would have nothing to do with the overheating and nothing to do with the no power to the started

First step, take things one at a time. Don't lump the symptoms together. You are looking at different systems. Always check for error codes. They can give you a starting point. For further testing on an intermittent problem you need to check things when the problem is happening. Do yourself a favor on the no start and remove clean and tighten all the cables. Even experienced technicians miss a loose or corroded wire and spend forever trying to track the problem. Test the start solenoid on the fender and check the switch at the base of the steering column for good contact. For overheating there are a lot of possibilities. Start by checking for codes. If nothing comes up do a methodical systems test. Check for oil/ coolant contamination. Check fluid levels. Check radiator flow, hoses, thermostat, and fan operation. Check spark plugs, distributor and wires. Do a series of vacuum test. Check compression. Odds are you will find something while running these basic tests.
