If fuel and compression seem good then it must be a ignition related. I'm not sure on what the specs for the coil are.

Ok, did a ohms test on the spark plug wires (Ford Motorsport set) and they are all over the place. only about 2 years old, so I'm going to get new ones. Did a KOEO test and got 5 codes (can't believe that)

they are

113-IAT sensor is/was high or open - IAT (just replaced it 6 months ago)
157-Mass Air Flow signal is/was low or grounded - MAF
158-MAF sensor is/was high or short to power - MAF
327-EGR feedback signal is/was low - EVR or PFE
332-EGR did not open/respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittantly - EVR or PFE

any idea's

1. Check the resistance of the IAT and see if its reading correctly
2. Check for the 5 volt reference voltage at the MAF and IAT, check connectors for bad pins or corrosion
3. Its rare for FMS wires to fail but I like Taylor Spirial core low resistance.
4. Not rare for MSD coils to fail lately so I would try the stock coil
YMMV

cleaned all the grounds, unhooked the egr tube from the intake to the egr valve, and no exhaust flow from engine side. took tube off of fitting at intake, and no exhaust flow. looks like previous owner welded the fitting shut ? but everything is hooked up at the egr valve, with the tube off the bottom of the egr valve and vaccum applied to the valve the engine tries to shut off, so I think the valve is working. also checked vaccum at idle = 16 inches. have 4.45 volts to the IAT and MAF sensors. Until a week ago I had no trouble with this thing what so ever, and would have trusted to drive it anywere, but not now..

Ok, noticed something this morning. It was about 55 degrees out, went to start the truck, it started but not in cold start mode. No high idle. Ran like crap whole way to work, almost seems like it has no timing advance (motor sounds different also)
