Default Need Help

fuel gauge does not work for both tanks when I flip the switch nothing happens no movement of any kind, and there is fuel in the tanks. Also speedo not working both things stopped working around the same time so maybe a short??? Any help would be appreciated...

Your speedometer is mechanical. No short will stop it from working. You can pull the cable from the tranny and spin it with your fingers while watching the speedometer and if it works then the plastic gear in the tranny stripped or busted. My gear busted once. If the cable doesn't spin or is hard to spin then it has probably seized or is coming apart. If it spins easily but the speedometer doesn't work still then the cable is busted or it popped off the cluster. The fuel gauges are a common problem with these trucks and is probably the sending units in the tanks. My gauge doesn't work well for either tank. Definitely check the fuse first, but you probably won't be that lucky.
