Default Need help!!!

ave a 94 with a 5.0 and the 4r70w tranny and when I take off from low speeds or a roll it takes off in it's highest gear. If I let my foot off the gas and then press it again, it won't down shift. and when at a stop in drive my trucks idle bounces up and down and at take off it acts like it's a standard. And when I put it in reverse it just died. What's going on with it?

Checking codes would be a great first step. Sounds like your TPS is shot, could be IAC or vacuum issue as well.

Try the sight search feature for TPS. Having codes will be a BIG help in solving your problems.

TPS - Throttle Position Sensor. It's not part of the transmission but if I'm correct, your trans is electronic which would be thrown off by a bad TPS. IAC- Idle Air Control valve. That will mess up your idle and make it die when you switch between drive and reverse or any other gear.

Check out fordfuelinjection.com for info about pulling codes and definitions of the components like TPS, IAC, EGR, and all the rest along with some good info about the EEC and EFI system.
