This dam truck is going to put me in my friggin grave. If its not 1 thing its another and i have had nothin but problems since i got it. Its a 87 f150 with 300. I took it over to the barn to put my new lockouts i just got for it. I shut the truck off to got and lock them out it. Get in and start it but then it makes a rapid clicking sound like the starter would then the neg batterie terminal starts smoking a little. Then i tried it a few more times with me tspping onthe starter with a hammer no difference. The batterie i think is starting to die down even though i only did it like 5 or 6 times. Im hoping its not the starter i need it by mon and it looks like a PITA to get it off plus i have no time to get one. Any suggestions

Oh man,,, when I first got mine the start circuit was shakey at best. I found that the big eyelets on the relay were corroded and HOT, I mean like insulation melting hot. This was my clue to go through the entire circuit cleaning and replacing questionable crap. This was on both the power and ground side. No problems since.

I just did my starter. If i had the replacement there when i took out my old one i would have been in and out in under 30 minutes tops. It was easy peasy. I dunno about the 300 and i have long tube headers.
