Mount steering box upside down?
I am planning a project of adding power steering to an old Allis Chalmers tractor and looking at different options. The one that looks the most promising is to mount the Ford gearbox upside down, this configuration would fit the best and should actually make it steer correctly as the tie rods on the tractor attach behind the axle instead of in front.
My biggest concern is if it would be getting proper lubrication upside down and that everything would still work. Also wondering what the results of powering with a gm pump would be.

I power mine with a GM standard pump. Well, "saginaw" builds the pumps but GM uses them in their vehicles. Works great if not better than the Ford whiner pump.
Not sure about the inverted operation though.

Yes I was wanting to use the GM pump because it looked easier to mount, working better is a bonus! Already have the ford gear. I am hoping to have this figured out and running in the next couple of months. I will post pictures if it works or for advice on how to fix what does not work.
