Default motor time

i am getting ready to build a motor. i have a block ready to build. 302 punched .30 (306) and i am ordering a eagle 347 balanced rotating assembly, gt-40 heads and a e 303 cam. stock intakes for now. this will have my bottom end the way i want it. at a later date i will come back and change intakes and TB. reason for this is i am on a $2k budget. i can build my bottom end for less than that and build the top end later without pulling the motor. any input or advise?

I'd skip the gt-40 heads and go with the trick flow track heat heads... that thing will really come alive....

why add more cubes to a already small head that suffers air restriction... its like running around your house with your mouth closed and one nostril plugged...

Is it a necessity to do the engine now or save and have a bigger budget? If I were to go that deep with it i'd go all out.

you wont be happy adding the extra cubes and smothering it with smallish heads...

it will have some killer offline torque but run out quick... BSFC will suffer greatly at cruise RPM and that means mileage (mpg) will suffer as well...

it doesn't HAVE to be done now but since it will be my DD now i would like it to be more dependable. Dr. bowtie i understand what you are saying but i just cant **** out a top end set of heads or the money for them. that is something i can always change later. my truck is weak as water now i am pretty sure i will see a significantly amount of power added. any other suggestions that are doable?

For now i'd timing upgrade, maintain, intake. Which can all be used later as well. And make a bigger budget

210cc is WAY too big... you want to stay around 185cc on the ports

EDIT... look and see if you can find some Patriot Performance heads... they are cheap and functional...

with some looking I'll bet you can find them cheaper...I can get them for less from my guy
