Monster In A Box
Anyone used a Monster In A Box kit from Monster Transmissions? Looking into it and wondering what people think of it. Worth the money and hype?

I heard Monster transmissions is nothing but trouble. It has been talked about on here once or twice and it seems to have a bad reputation. I would stay away from it.

I've had a couple transmissions rebuilt before. None if them ever lasted much more than a year. I just buy cheap used ones now. They have lasted until the vehicle was gone. Ain't nothing like a factory built transmission.
I also bought books for Chevy and Ford transmissions. For $400ish and a lot of time I bet I can get more than a year out if one, but still haven't tried rebuilding one yet.

The main thing about transmissions is that many so-called rebuilders tend to take shortcuts. A really good transmission is going to cost $2000ish and up. There's a lot more to it than clutches. Parts such as planets, servos, sun shell, pump gears, pump springs, pump valves, etc have to be considered. The average builder does not touch any of this.
Also, there are manufacturer upgrades to consider.
Usually a jackleg rebuilder will slap new clutches in it and send you about your way. Didn't even look at other hard parts or anything.
